It is now the evening of the 20th Anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the USA. At 7:30am tomorrow, Sunday 12th September (repeated at 7:30pm), BBC Radio Wales are broadcasting a special 9/11 service recorded by the Bishop of Bangor in St Mary’s Conwy with our choir. It includes prayers created by Rev Eryl Parry and cellist Hazel Sturt.
As night falls, we join our brothers and sisters across the world in a prayer from the Episcopal Diocese of New York:
O Almighty God, who bringest good out of evil and turnest even thy children’s wrath towards thy promised peace:
Hear our prayers this day as we remember those of many nations and diverse faiths whose lives were cut short by the fierce flames of anger and hatred. Hasten the time when the menace of war shall be removed. Cleanse both us and those perceived to be our enemies of all hatred and distrust. Pour out the spirit of peace on all the rulers of our world that we may be brought through strife to the lasting peace of the kingdom of thy Son; Jesus Christ, our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end.
Amen.
Thank you so much. I have sent your link to my pen friend of 62 years in Ohio. I know she watches some of your services and will really appreciate your prayers for 9/11.
