Daily Reflection 19th April

Greetings, this Low Sunday

Today is often referred to as ‘Low’, as there’s an anti-climax after Easter weekend – no doubt also why others call it ’empty pew’ Sunday! Of course that’s rather poignant this year, as our pews have indeed been just that. Yet, the encouragement in that Easter faith we share as a community, has never been stronger.

We continue to invite you to greet our on-line community here by sending a photo and short message – we will start featuring your ‘postcards’ again tomorrow – just click here.

The Gospel reading today is the story of Jesus and Thomas. Why not read the passage by clicking on John 20: 19-31, then enjoy the reflection below from Reverend David Parry. It may be Low Sunday, but we hope it makes you smile!

“If you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Romans 10: 9
~
“Os wnei di gyffesu ‛â’th wefusau‛, “Iesu ydy’r Arglwydd”, a chredu ‛yn dy galon‛ fod Duw wedi’i godi yn ôl yn fyw ar ôl iddo farw, cei dy achub.”
Rhufeiniaid 10: 9

It is fitting, then, to affirm our faith with a simple Creed – words that we can say together, or quietly if alone – allowing them to be said by our lips, and felt deep within our hearts:-

I believe and trust in God the Father,
who created all that is.

I believe and trust in his Son Jesus Christ,
who redeemed humankind.

I believe and trust in his Holy Spirit,
who gives life to the people of God.

I believe and trust in one God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Yr wyf yn credu ac yn ymddiried yn New Dad,
a greodd bopeth sydd.

Yr wyf yn credu ac yn ymddiried yn ei Fab Iesu Grist,
a brynodd ddynolryw.

Yr wyf yn credu ac yn ymddiried yn ei Ysbryd Glan,
sy’n rhoi bywyd i bobl Duw.

Yr wyf yn credu ac yn ymddiried yn un Duw,
Dad, Mab ac Ysbryd Glan.
Amen.
