Ageing with Grace

Looking to the Future: Ageing with Grace

Saturday March 14th 2026, 10 -15.30 – Neuadd Ni, Rosehill Street, Conwy, LL32 8LD

(next door to St John’s Methodist church)

Rationale

Growing older brings new challenges. There are changes in our life roles, in our  abilities and resources to handle the challenges. There is often an increasing reliance  on other people. Our society has conflicted messages on ageing. We are surrounded  by images of an active, healthy, perfect retirement with the time, energy and resources  to enjoy things in a new way. Yet, we are aware that ageing is not all an easy journey.  We may have hovering fears of a downward spiral of poor health, loneliness and  confusion, of practical changes that have to be made and maybe of dying and death.  As a response to these challenges, we offer a day for reflection and prayer.

Content

The day brings an opportunity to look at the possibility of ageing as a spiritual  opportunity to re-orientate ourselves and deepen our inner journey, either for  ourselves, or for others we support such as family and friends who are facing the  challenges of ageing. There is an opportunity for people to bring their own situation  to God and ask:

• What is God’s invitation to me as I get older, or walk alongside others?  • What am I praying for in this ageing journey?

• What spiritual practices might support me at this time?

This is a chance to withdraw from busyness, begin to look at some of these questions,  ponder our hopes and fears and to listen for God’s invitation in the face of ageing for  oneself or others. The day involves some input, space for personal time and prayer and  an opportunity to consider your own questions. There will be sharing in small groups  and a concluding reflective worship.
