This Advent, Rev. Kevin Ellis will lead an advent group exploring the Jesse Tree, which takes a look at some of the lesser known figures in the family tree of Jesus, and their role in influencing certain important events that lead to his birth. In conjunction with our friends at St. John’s Methodist, the course will take place over three weeks on Mondays in Neuadd Ni, and Wednesdays in St. John’s Church, and will use a specially produced booklet to explore these lesser known, but important characters in the Bible.
Thinking about the Jesse Tree is important in Advent for Christians of some denominations. It is basically the wider family tree of Jesus. It does not follow the genealogies set out in Matthew and Luke. Rather Abraham, Moses, David and Isaiah are amongst the figures to be found there. In these groups, we take a sideways look, and look at figures who are not normally celebrated like Hagar, Orpah, Eliab, Benjamin and Hannah. Please contact Rev. Kevin directly for more information and to take part – please email kevinstuartellis@churchinwales.org.uk or call 07535557632.
Mondays in Neuadd Ni at 2pm – 1st, 8th, 15th December
Wednesdays in St. John’s Methodist Church at 7pm – 3rd, 10th, 17th December
