We’re sure by now you have heard the lovely news that was announced in our churches on 20th October. We are very excited to hear a new vicar has been appointed to our Ministry Area, and will join us as we approach Lent in February/ March time this coming year.
The Rev. Kevin Ellis has an excellent track record, having re-opened three churches with regular services, and runs a successful youth Bible study group. He is a wonderful listener, and we’re sure he will be delighted to meet you all in due course.
Below are a few words of introduction from him before we can welcome him in the Spring. We hope in time you will join us in welcoming our new Vicar with open arms as he and his lovely wife Jennifer settle in to Conwy and the pace of life here in town an in the valley.
An introduction from Rev. Kevin Ellis
I wanted to say a few words of hello to you all. Just a few. Vicars can talk for a long time, but it is a few because I am still for a few months longer the vicar of Bro Madryn. I have been honest from the beginning that I needed to look for a move because of my wife’s health care needs. Her name is Jennifer, and she works as a GP, so she is very active as lots of people with MS are. Once the matter of my need to move was settled, Bro Celynnin was, and is, my first choice. I love the opportunities that the MA gives and look forward to working with you. What are my passions? I love talking about Jesus to anyone who will listen. Sometimes, even if they do not. Secondly, I love the Bible and helping make sense of it with people. What can you expect of me? I will listen, I will love, and laugh. I am deeply committed to working with you. I will inevitably make mistakes, and hope you will forgive me when I do. Oh, and I love learning and speaking Welsh. I will see you all soon.
Roeddwn i eisiau dweud ychydig o eiriau o helo wrthych chi i gyd. Dim ond ychydig. Gall ficeriaid siarad am amser hir, ond mae’n ychydig oherwydd fy mod yn dal am rai misoedd yn hirach yn ficer Bro Madryn. Rwyf wedi bod yn onest o’r dechrau roedd angen i mi chwilio am symud oherwydd anghenion gofal iechyd fy ngwraig. Jennifer yw ei henw, ac mae hi’n gweithio fel meddyg teulu, felly mae hi’n weithgar iawn fel mae llawer o bobl ag MS. Unwaith i’r mater o’m hangen i symud gael ei setlo, Bro Celynnin oedd, a dyma, fy newis cyntaf. Rwyf wrth fy modd â’r cyfleoedd y mae’r AW yn eu rhoi ac edrychaf ymlaen at weithio gyda chi. Beth yw fy nwydau? Rwyf wrth fy modd yn siarad am Iesu i unrhyw un a fydd yn gwrando. Weithiau, hyd yn oed os nad ydynt. Yn ail, dwi’n caru’r Beibl ac yn helpu i wneud synnwyr ohono gyda phobl. Beth allwch chi ei ddisgwyl gennyf i? Byddaf yn gwrando, byddaf yn caru, ac yn chwerthin. Dw i wedi ymrwymo’n fawr i weithio gyda chi. Byddaf yn anochel yn gwneud camgymeriadau, a gobeithio y byddwch yn maddau i mi pan fyddaf yn gwneud hynny. O, a dwi wrth fy modd yn dysgu a siarad Cymraeg. Gwelaf i gyd yn fuan.
