This coming weekend the beautiful, ancient church of St Peter’s in Llanbedr-y-Cennin will be full of the scent and spectacle of a Flower Festival, representing the life of St. Peter. Free entry, tea and home-made cakes will be available, with the opportunity to donate and buy a range of gifts in support of the work and mission of the Church. It will be a lovely, community event which is open to all – do drop by!
Gobaith Conwy Hope
The churches of the Bro Celynnin Ministry Area, together with St John’s Methodist, Conwy and Love Wales have been hard at work planning a great 3-day event for children and young people. And it’s on this week!
Our Roman past revealed!
One gift of the prolonged dry summer, has been the revelation of our past at St Mary’s Caerhun.
The photos below, taken with a drone by Mark Walters show the interior of the Roman fort of Canovium including the internal roads (wider brown lines) and buildings (thin rectangles and squares). The main defensive rampart surrounds all of these features. Outside the fort to the north the wide brown line of the Roman road heading north can be seen and alongside this are the mostly rectangular external settlement buildings. Then down by the river all of the rooms of the bath house are on display.
The age of the site in which we worship never ceases to amaze us, and that we can enjoy it as a place of peace and refreshment by the river, in a way those who lived here before never could!
Special ‘In concert’ at Caerhun
We’re delighted to be hosting a concert in the beautiful setting of St Mary’s Caerhun on Wednesday 18th July, by singer songwriter Cass Meurig and Elise Gwilym, playing from her new album ‘Taith’. Cass’s music has wide appeal as she has performed nationally and internationally, using song to tell her personal journey of faith. Entrance is free but any donations will go to the fundraising appeal bringing the National Eisteddfod to Llanwrst.
Do join us for this special bilingual concert, on what is set to be a lovely summer’s evening!

Celebrate ‘Our Father’ at Llangelynnin
We are giving a special focus on Fathers’ Day to consider who is our heavenly Father, and warmly welcome Rev Susan Blagden, tutor at St Padarn’s Institute to help us do that! Our ancient church, set high on the hills, gives us a special place to think, pray and praise. We very much hope you can join us this Sunday, whether you arrive on foot or by car!
Service: 3pm Sunday 17th June at Llangelynnin Old Church
walk starts at 1.15pm
If you’d like to join a group of friends, old and new, to walk there and back – meet at the middle of 3 car parks on the Sychnant Pass. Walking boots and waterproofs recommended. Medium paced walk with stiles. Stunning views and a lovely sense of pilgrimage.
After the service there will be tea and cake (and a loo stop!) courtesy of the warm and generous hospitality of the Addisons who live nearby.
We hope to see you there!
